The Klingler College of Arts and Sciences’ biochemistry and molecular biology major has received full accreditation from the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
The biochemistry and molecular biology major at Marquette analyzes the molecular structure and chemistry of biological systems. Discoveries in this discipline are revolutionizing our understanding of living systems, with far-reaching implications for fields such as medicine, agriculture and ecology. Marquette’s program in biochemistry and molecular biology provides an environment that supports both scientific and ethical inquiry in the discipline.
ASBMB accreditation is a national, independent, outcomes-based evaluation mechanism that recognizes excellence in B.S. or B.A. degree programs in biochemistry and molecular biology and related disciplines. Marquette has earned accreditation for the full seven-year term, through December 31, 2029. This effort was spearheaded by Dr. Martin St. Maurice, associate professor of biological sciences, and Dr. Nicholas Reiter, assistant professor of chemistry.
