The Graduate School will welcome new and returning graduate students to its fourth annual Graduate Student Services Fair on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Eckstein Common, located on the east lawn of the Alumni Memorial Union.
Now in its fourth year, the fair has become a signature kickoff event for the academic year, drawing a couple hundred graduate and professional students annually. Designed to help students thrive both inside and outside the classroom, the event offers an opportunity to explore the many campus services, programs and community organizations available throughout the academic year.
Representatives from more than 30 campus offices and community organizations will be available to answer questions, share information and introduce students to services that support academic achievement, career development, health and well-being, financial literacy and community engagement. Participating partners include the Career Center, Raynor Library, Marquette Central, the Counseling Center, Medical Clinic, Campus Ministry, Campus Recreation, Office of Disability Services, Office of Inclusion and Belonging, Office of International Education, Graduate Student Organization (GSO), Ott Writing Center, MIC Speakers Lab, ITS, Health Promotion, Prevention and Advocacy, Marquette University Police Department, the Center for Teaching and Learning, and more.
Students will also have the opportunity to connect with community organizations and local partners, including Milwaukee Public Library, Visit Milwaukee, Milwaukee County Parks, 3rd Street Market Hall, Town Bank, Transition Health Benefits, InterVarsity, the Center for Peacemaking and several health and wellness programs.
“This is a great opportunity for graduate students to discover resources they may not realize are available to them while also making connections with staff, community partners and fellow students,” said Melissa Econom, graduate student development coordinator in the Graduate School. “Whether you’re new to Marquette or returning for another year, the fair is designed to help you feel supported, connected and prepared for a successful semester.”
In addition to meeting campus and community partners, attendees can enjoy light refreshments, music and free giveaways in a relaxed outdoor setting while networking with fellow graduate students.
The Graduate Student Services Fair is free and open to all graduate and professional students. No registration is required.
