Marquette University mourns the loss of Larry Williams

Marquette University mourns the loss of Larry Williams, former athletic director, who died Thursday, Oct. 16. He was 62.

Williams served as Marquette athletic director from 2011 to 2013. His vision and leadership were foundational to the formation of the basketball-centric Big East Conference in 2013, helping to shape the conference into what it is today.

A two-time All-America selection at offensive line for Notre Dame, Williams played 61 games with the Cleveland Browns, New Orleans Saints and New England Patriots as part of a National Football League career that spanned from 1985 to 1992.

In addition to his time at Marquette, Williams served as athletic director at the University of Portland, the University of Akron and the University of San Francisco.

Please remember Larry, his family and friends, and the USF community in prayer.
