One of the most appealing aspects of Marquette University to me was its seamless integration with the City of Milwaukee. Milwaukee is a cultural hub, offering a beautiful lakefront, a thriving arts scene and an endless variety of activities that cater to every interest. Marquette’s location makes it incredibly easy to take advantage of everything the city has to offer, and the university even provides students with a bus pass, ensuring we can explore the city at our convenience. Whether you’re passionate about the arts, crave outdoor adventures or love exploring new restaurants, you’ll never be short on things to do.
Personally, my favorite way to unwind from my studies is by walking down Wisconsin Avenue toward the lakefront. The lake is undeniably one of Milwaukee’s most iconic attractions. The city is situated along Lake Michigan, and the waterfront is an ideal spot for relaxation and recreation.
For food enthusiasts like myself, Milwaukee is a hidden gem. The city is renowned not only for its craft beer scene but also for its diverse food offerings. From the signature Wisconsin cheese curds to a wide array of international flavors, there’s something to satisfy every craving. One of my favorite places to dine is anywhere along Brady Street!
Sports fans will also feel at home in Milwaukee. The city is home to several professional teams, including the Milwaukee Bucks and the Milwaukee Brewers. Both the Fiserv Forum and American Family Field are just a short distance from campus, making it easy to catch a game and immerse yourself in the local sports culture when Marquette does not have any games going on.
Beyond entertainment, Milwaukee is full of meaningful service opportunities. I enjoy volunteering at Feeding America on Saturday mornings when I have a lighter study load. Service is one of Marquette’s core values, and the city makes it easy for students to get involved and make a difference in the community.
