Engineering student Paige Peters to deliver 2023 graduate Commencement address

May 12, 2023

Paige Peters, a doctoral graduate of the Opus College of Engineering’s civil engineering program, has been selected as the 2023 graduate student Commencement speaker. Peters, a three-time Marquette graduate, is the founder and chief technology officer of Rapid Radicals Technology, a Milwaukee-based company which is revolutionizing treatment of sewer overflows to prevent untreated sewage from being dumped into our lakes and rivers during storm events.

Peters received a B.S. in civil engineering from Marquette in 2011 before working as an engineer on landfill and digester biogas collection projects. She returned to Marquette in 2015 to pursue her M.S. in civil engineering with an emphasis on water and wastewater treatment, a degree she completed in 2019.

Peters’ company Rapid Radicals was the grand prize winner of the 2022 Wisconsin Governor’s Business Plan Contest. Peters is also an adjunct professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, serving as a teaching team member for National Science Foundation’s Great Lakes I-Corps Hub program. She additionally is a professional mentor with the Madison Area Professional Chapter of Engineers Without Borders on water supply and distribution projects in Guatemala.

Marquette’s 142nd Commencement ceremony will be held Saturday, May 20, at the Fiserv Forum, located at 1111 Vel R. Phillips Ave., Milwaukee. The undergraduate ceremony will be at 9 a.m.; the Graduate School and Graduate School of Management ceremony will be later that day at 2 p.m. The School of Dentistry, Law School and College of Health Sciences’ professional programs will hold separate ceremonies and will not be part of the Fiserv Forum ceremonies.

Guest tickets are required for entry into the 2023 undergraduate Commencement ceremony; all guests will need to provide a digital ticket. For easy access to digital tickets, download the Marquette Gameday app. For more information on how to utilize digital ticketing, please reference this Marquette Digital Ticketing video.
