60-second Marquette is a documentary video series from the Office of Marketing and Communication focused on interesting Marquette people and stories, told in 60 seconds or less. The latest video features Tony ‘Cannoli’ Volpentesta, Bus Ad ’11, owner and operator of Tony Cannoli Sweets & Eats in Mundelein, Illinois.

Learn more about Volpentesta and other Marquette alumni making their mark in the food industry in “Breaking bread: Your all-Marquette-made holiday meal, from cranberries to cannoli,” a story from the fall 2026 issue of Marquette Magazine.
In the video, Volpentesta shares the story behind his unique cannoli shell recipe, how his Marquette experience helped inspire his entrepreneurial path and the unexpected place where the idea for his cannoli shells first took shape: at a sushi counter in Japan.
