Interim fitness, recreation and club sports spaces opening Jan. 17; cardio space at Rec Plex Nest delayed until February

The Helfaer Tennis Stadium and Recreation Center (Rec Center) is now closed to accommodate renovations and construction for the reimagined, comprehensiveWellness + Recreation facility. Starting Tuesday, Jan. 17, interim spaces will be available at several campus locations for fitness, recreation and club sports.

Important update: Due to weather-related damage sustained over Christmas Break, the cardio area in the Rec Plex Nest space will not be open for the start of the semester. Facilities Planning and Management has been working to expedite repairs and aims to have the space open by Feb. 1. This cardio space at the Rec Plex Nest represents about 30% of the total cardio equipment available; additional equipment is available beginning Jan. 17 at the Rec Plex proper and O’Donnell Hall.

Importantly, the interim locations will be open the same or more hours each day as had been previously available at the Rec Center and Rec Plex. Additionally, once the repairs to the cardio area of the Rec Plex Nest are complete, all previously available fitness and recreation equipment (e.g., treadmills, spin bikes, weight equipment, etc.) from the Rec Center will be available at the Rec Plex Nest and O’Donnell Hall locations.

Please visit the updated Rec Sports website for an interactive map of fitness and recreation spaces, a list of features and amenities, and spring 2023 facility hours.
