Marquette University Law School’s Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, in collaboration with the College of Education, will host author Maya Smart on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 12:15 p.m. in Eckstein Hall.
Smart, author of “Reading for Our Lives: A Literacy Action Plan from Birth to Six,” will join Alan Borsuk, senior fellow in law and public policy at Marquette Law School, for a conversation on how parents and caregivers can help young children develop strong reading skills.
The discussion will highlight Smart’s findings on the critical role families play in early literacy and address the lack of improvement in Wisconsin reading achievement over the past 25 years.
The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Register online by Tuesday, Nov. 11, to attend in person.
Boswell Book Company will offer “Reading for Our Lives” for sale at the event, and copies can also be ordered online.
