The Community’s fifth annual Correcting the Narrative Celebration, Learning is Liberation, presented by Ascendium Education Group in partnership with the McNeely Prison Education Consortium, will be held Monday, Nov. 3, through Thursday, Nov. 6, at campuses across the Milwaukee area. This four-day series confronts the realities of the criminal legal system through immersive experiences and critical conversations.
Each free, public event invites participants to step into carceral experiences and envision a safer, healthier future. The series aims to deepen public understanding of incarceration and highlight the transformative power of education.
This year’s lineup includes:
- Prison birth simulations at Alverno College and Mount Mary University
- Criminal legal simulations at Carroll University and UW–Milwaukee
- Solitary confinement experience at UW–Milwaukee
- Reels and Reflections: documentary clips and panel discussion at UW–Milwaukee
