Dr. Martin Duennwald, associate professor at the University of Western Ontario, will present the Biological Sciences colloquium on Friday, Feb. 14, at 3 p.m. in Wehr Life Sciences 111. Duennwald’s talk, “Chaperoning misfolded proteins – heroes and villains,” will discuss cellular mechanisms underpinning the interplay of failing cellular protein quality control and protein misfolding in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

The Biological Sciences Department’s Friday Seminar Series is supported by the Scholl Endowment. Eminent scientists are invited to the department to deliver seminars, and students have ample opportunity to engage these scientists in individual or group conversation.
