Applications are now being accepted for the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute Center of Excellence Summer 2026 Student Scholars Program, which engages students from partner institutions in data science and artificial intelligence research. The program supports hands-on, interdisciplinary projects that explore applications of data science and AI across a broad range of fields.
Faculty principal investigators may apply directly. Student applicants must have written approval from a faculty member willing to supervise the proposed project and are encouraged to seek faculty support in advance of submitting an application.
Additional details are available on the Student Scholars page. Applications must be submitted through the COE Student Scholars Application by Sunday, March 29; incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. Award notifications for summer 2026 projects are anticipated by mid-April.
Those interested in learning more about prior projects may watch a recording of the NMDSI December Speaker Series: Fall 2025 Student Research Scholars Showcase, which highlights recent student awardees and their NMDSI-funded research.
Questions about the program may be directed via email to the NMDSI team.
