Episode three of the Marquette CARES podcast, “Breaking Barriers: How One Scholarship Changed a Life,” is now available on Apple, Spotify, iHeart and RSS.
In the third episode, host Kelly Albrecht sits down with Kennedi Luckett, the first recipient of the Wade Scholarship, to discuss her journey to higher education and why she chose Marquette.
Kennedi shares the moment she learned she had been named the inaugural Wade Scholar live on national television and reflects on the opportunities that followed, including her creative internship with Visit Milwaukee.

Throughout the conversation, Kennedi highlights the support she has received from Marquette faculty and programs such as Urban Scholars.
She also offers insight into the life of a high-achieving student and shares how she manages the stressors of college life. Her pride in and gratitude for the Marquette community shine throughout the episode.
“Visit Milwaukee is lucky to have Kennedi as our marketing intern for the spring and summer semesters this year,” said Josh Albrecht, chief marketing officer of Visit Milwaukee. “Having grown up in Milwaukee, she brings a fantastic perspective to our content creation and social media promotions each day. Our partnership with the Wade Scholars program has gotten off to a fast start thanks to her enthusiasm and knowledge.”
