NMDSI to offer new data science programs; learn more at upcoming town hall, Sept. 21

The Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute will host a town hall on its campus on Thursday, Sept. 21, offering opportunities to learn more about new data science programs.

Register online.

The NMDSI is a collaboration among Marquette, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Northwestern Mutual with the goals of furthering research, corporate and community applications, and talent development in data science.

Attendees can expect to hear from Executive Director Jonathan Stark along with university co-directors Scott Rex (Marquette) and Dr. Purush Papatla (UW-Milwaukee). These NMDSI leaders will share new opportunities to get involved with the NMDSI through several new programs, including the Roads Seed Fund Program, Curricula Programs, Horizon Awards, the NMDSI Scholars Program and NMDSI Student Scholarships.

Each of these programs — centered around artificial intelligence, artificial intelligence data ethics and bias, health wealth inequality, behavioral economics and financial literacy — will serve to accelerate a robust ecosystem for research and innovation, talent pathways, community outreach and partnerships. Welcoming broader inclusion and participation, the NMDSI is scaling cohort-modeled opportunities, internships, research engagement and curricula development.

Their presentations will be followed by an open Q&A during which attendees are encouraged to ask questions.
