Construction site preparation work has begun for the new home for Marquette Business and innovation leadership programs at 16th Street and Wisconsin Avenue. The university recently announced Board of Trustees approval to break ground for the new $60 million, 100,000 square-foot facility.
To accommodate the construction crew’s work, the sidewalk from Wisconsin Avenue to the midblock crossing on the east side of 16th Street will be closed. Pedestrians are urged to exercise caution and use the west side sidewalk — signage will direct the flow of pedestrian traffic in the area. Fencing will remain around the project site through fall 2022.
Additionally, the Milwaukee County Transit Service has removed the bus shelter at the corner of 16th Street and Wisconsin Avenue; the location will remain an MCTS stop.
Construction activity will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
A formal groundbreaking ceremony will be held this spring and the facility will be completed at the end of 2022. Watch Marquette Today for project updates.
