Renowned professor explores transformative pedagogy, Sept. 10

Dr. Justin McDaniel, Edmund J. and Louise W. Kahn Endowed Professor of the Humanities at the University of Pennsylvania, will deliver a lecture about the power of transformative teaching on Thursday, Sept. 10, at 4 p.m. at the AMU Lunda Room.

McDaniel has garnered a national reputation for his creative courses that provide transformative experiences for his students, from a class on “existential despair” that meets for marathon sessions each week to the “monk class” that includes a vow of silence in the middle of the semester. His lecture will share lessons learned from these unique courses and provide inspiration for the work of transformative education at Marquette.

Sponsored by the Office of Faculty Affairs as part of the NetVUE “Called to Transform” grant , the lecture is free and open to the public. Reception to follow.
