Members of the Crisis Management Team and colleagues across campus participated in the university’s annual crisis drill on Thursday, July 23, which is a real-life, real-time crisis scenario to test the university’s crisis management preparedness.
The drill was co-facilitated by the Marquette University Police Department and the Office of Marketing and Communication — led by Erin Weber-Holloway, senior director of university communication, and Lt. James Hensley — and included more than 40 staff and faculty members, including Dr. Debbie Tahmassebi, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, and Joel Pogodzinski, executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Community partners from across the Menomonee Valley participated in a parallel exercise led by Marquette Crisis Management Team leaders, working through the same scenario to gain insight into the university’s crisis management approach and strengthen relationships that could support coordinated responses during emergencies.
The Crisis Management Team is led by MUPD Assistant Chief Jeff Kranz and Chief Marketing and Communication Officer Lynn Griffith. The team meets every other month, and its mission is to identify hazards, collaborate on emergency management strategies and initiatives designed to enhance preparedness, and improve the university’s ability to respond to all threats (natural, technological and human-caused).
More information on the university’s crisis planning and emergency procedures can be found on the university safety website.
