Marquette celebrates International Education Week with a Thanksgiving gathering for international students

Each November, universities across the United States observe International Education Week, a national initiative led by the U.S. Departments of State and Education to celebrate the power of international education and cultural exchange. This year, IEW will take place Nov. 17–21, and Marquette will mark the occasion with a week of events honoring the contributions and perspectives of its international student community.

The celebration will culminate in a Thanksgiving dinner for international students on Friday, Nov. 21, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the AMU Lunda Room. Sponsored by the Office of International Education, International Student Peer Support (ISPS) program, and the Graduate School, the event offers a meaningful opportunity to gather in gratitude and community.

Students are invited to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal featuring both meat and vegetarian options. While no RSVP is required, attendees are encouraged to complete the event interest form to help organizers plan accordingly.

International Education Week and Thanksgiving share a spirit of appreciation, one that reflects Marquette’s ongoing commitment to fostering global understanding and celebrating the diverse experiences that enrich campus life. Through shared meals, stories, and friendships, the university gives thanks for the vibrant international community that helps make Marquette a truly global home.
