In partnership with the United Way, 207 Marquette faculty, staff and students aim to collect a record 410 gifts as part of the annual Holiday Giving Tree. The campus community is joining together to help provide gifts for those who might otherwise not receive anything for the holidays.
Gifts will be collected at drop-off stations through Friday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m. Gifts can be dropped off at one of four locations:
- Sensenbrenner Hall 002: Shelves and collection boxes are available on the lower level of the Sensenbrenner atriums. This location is coordinated by Maria Cooper.
- Dental School 192: This location is coordinated by Carol Trecek.
- AMU Spirit Shop: This location is coordinated by Tina Aiello.
- University Christmas tree lighting on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 4:45 p.m. on Westowne Square: Carols will be played and sung by the Marquette pep band and the All-Campus Choir, made up of singers from across the university. President Kimo Ah Yun will deliver remarks prior to the tree lighting, and Rev. John Thiede, S.J., vice president for mission and ministry, will offer a prayer and blessing. Hot chocolate and cookies will be available upon arrival at the ceremony.
Please attach, staple or fasten the gift tag (or something similar) to each gift. You must include your name, the agency name and your gift tag number.
This year, the Holiday Giving Tree will benefit:
- Catholic Charities Milwaukee
- Catholic Charities Waukesha
- Mitchell Integrated Arts School
- Pearls for Teen Girls
- Milwaukee LGBT Community Center
Marquette volunteers will deliver gifts to the agencies by mid-December.
