Reminder: Windows 10 support ends Oct. 14

Microsoft will officially end support for Windows 10 on Tuesday, Oct. 14. After this date, devices running Windows 10 will no longer receive security updates or technical support, putting university systems and data at risk.

To ensure continued access to secure and supported technology, all Marquette-owned Windows computers must be upgraded to Windows 11 before the deadline.

This follows the February upgrade window announced earlier this year.

The IT Services team has been working with faculty and staff to resolve anomalies that didn’t upgrade, but to date, 304 computers are still running on Windows 10 and must be upgraded or replaced.

What you need to do:

  • Check your device: If your computer is still running Windows 10, it must be upgraded or replaced.
  • Upgrade now: Use the Microsoft Software Center to initiate the upgrade at your convenience.
  • Devices that do not meet Windows 11 requirements must be replaced. CRP-eligible devices will be handled through the Computer Replacement Program; departments are responsible for non-CRP devices.
  • Back up your files: While the upgrade should not affect your files, it is best practice to save documents to OneDrive.
