Celebrating Recovery Month with Recovery at Marquette

September is National Recovery Month, an annual observance that builds awareness of the millions of Americans in recovery from addiction. At Marquette, Recovery at Marquette is hosting programs throughout the month in addition to its regular peer support offerings.

Every Thursday in September, the Free Coffee Bike will be stationed near Wisconsin Avenue and the Alumni Memorial Union around 9 a.m., handing out free cold brew and promoting Recovery Month activities.

An open house will take place Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Recovery Resource Center, Room 302 of the Wellness + Recreation facility. The event will include free pizza and refreshments.

On Tuesday, Sept. 16, Recovery at Marquette will co-host Milwaukee’s largest sober tailgate from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at Helfaer Field in the Brewers complex. Later that evening, they will also co-host MKE Recovery Night at the Brewers vs. Angels game, which begins at 6:40 p.m.

The month concludes with the National Recovery Day Fair on Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 2 to 5 p.m. in Wellness + Recreation and along 16th Street. The fair will feature free food trucks for the first 100 students who complete a passport from resource tables, along with other giveaways and games.
