Marquette Business

A message from Dean Andrew DeGuire

Dear Marquette Business Alumni,

I write to you at the conclusion of my first year as Marquette Business dean, a milestone that has me feeling immensely grateful for all we’ve accomplished. In just the past 12 months, our college has achieved a Top 50 MBA program ranking, significantly expanded our AI capabilities and student opportunities, and grown enrollment by hundreds of students, just to name a few things. This would not have been possible without the dedication of alumni such as yourself.  So many of you are personally engaged in making this possible. I am grateful for your efforts.

This year, Dr. Marko Bastl, director of our nationally ranked Center for Supply Chain Management, launched a new immersive study abroad program in Colombia. The trip takes students through the coffee supply chain, from local farms to international exporters, providing a glimpse at the lives of the people responsible for the global coffee supply along the way. When I think about what kind of education we offer people at Marquette Business, this experience checks every box: applied learning, global perspective, ethically focused and putting business in the context of broader society.

I’m also proud to highlight the economic scorecard produced by our Center for Applied Economics. By looking at a wide range of factors, Drs. Nick Jolly and Grace Wang were able to produce a comprehensive forecast of Southeast Wisconsin’s economy that will help local businesses make decisions about their future. What makes this even more powerful is the engagement of our Master of Science in Applied Economics graduate students, who were central in producing this.

We are also proud to feature alumna Kathryn Campbell. As vice president of investor relations at Clarios, Campbell plays a pivotal role for one of our college’s major employer partners, as well as one of Milwaukee’s flagship businesses.

As we move into the 2025-26 academic year, our college has never been better positioned to fulfill our mission of creating resilient, impact-oriented students. I’m looking forward to next year being even better than the first.

Sincerely,
Andrew DeGuire
