On Wednesday, April 30, members of the Marquette community took part in a blessing ceremony for the new Wellness + Helfaer Recreation facility, which also honored the university’s late president, Dr. Michael Lovell, and his wife Amy. The facility is home to the LOVELLSTRONG Center for Student Well-being.
LOVELLSTRONG represents the way President Lovell lived his life, as well as the Lovells’ dream that all students would experience cura personalis, or care for the whole person – mind, body and spirit.
Marquette opened its new Wellness + Helfaer Recreation facility, a 195,000-square-foot re-imagining of health, wellness, and recreation services on campus, on Jan. 13, the first day of the 2025 spring semester. More than $25 million was given by generous donors and friends of the university to help make the facility a reality.
Wellness + Helfaer Recreation is home to Campus Recreation, the Marquette University Medical Clinic, the Center for Student Wellness and Health Promotion, and the Counseling Center, for the first time bringing these areas from varied corners of campus into one place, allowing Marquette to comprehensively serve students’ well-being.
