Search committee named for next permanent provost; Health Sciences’ Dr. SuJean Choi will serve as chair 

President Kimo Ah Yun has named a search committee to identify the next permanent provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. The committee, which comprises faculty, staff, a member of the Society of Jesus, a dean, a vice president and a trustee, will be chaired by Dr. SuJean Choi, professor of biomedical sciences in the College of Health Sciences.  

The search committee will conduct a national search for the next permanent provost, who oversees all aspects of the university’s academic mission, including cultivating a learning experience that challenges and engages students while inspiring faculty research, scholarship and service. 

In addition to Choi, the committee members include: 

  • Dr. Manoj Babu, assistant professor of practice in management; College of Business Administration 
  • Dr. Pradeep Bhagavatula, professor of community dental services; School of Dentistry 
  • Kate Bracciano, director of admissions visits and special programs; Office of Undergraduate Admissions 
  • Elisa Coghlan, communication and assessment coordinator; Raynor Library 
  • Dr. Leah Flack, professor of English; Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 
  • Dr. Jill Guttormson, professor and dean of the College of Nursing 
  • Dr. Majeed Hayat, chair and professor of electrical and computer engineering; Opus College of Engineering 
  • Dr. Carie Hertzberg, senior director, student community service; Division of Belonging and Student Affairs 
  • Marilyn Jones, director, Lemonis Center for Student Success; Office of the Provost 
  • Dr. Praveen Madiraju, professor of computer science; Klingler College of Arts and Sciences 
  • Ray Manista, vice chair of the Marquette Board of Trustees; executive vice president – chief legal and public affairs officer, Northwestern Mutual 
  • Tim McMahon, vice president for University Advancement 
  • Derek Mosley, director of the Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education; Marquette Law School 
  • Rev. Jim Pribek, S.J., assistant vice president, Office of Mission and Ministry 

The search committee will be assisted by search firm Isaacson, Miller, to ensure a strong pool of candidates.
