An update on the search for Marquette’s 25th president

Dear Marquette community,

I’m writing with an update on the status of the search for Marquette University’s 25th president. Over the past several months, the presidential search committee and the Marquette Board of Trustees have been making steady progress on the search process. We are incredibly grateful for the level of interest and engagement from the entire Marquette community as an integral part of the search process.

The Board remains committed to hiring a dynamic, effective leader who will deliver on our Marquette 2031 Strategic Plan; animate our Catholic, Jesuit mission; and help achieve our vision to be among the most innovative and accomplished Catholic, Jesuit universities in the world.

The presidential search committee is very pleased with the confidential candidate pool, which includes multiple current university presidents and provosts. At this point in the process, candidates are being vetted by the external search firm and the search committee has selected semi-finalists for interviews. From there, the semi-finalist pool will be narrowed to finalists who will undergo an extensive interview and background process.

For some perspective, we are undertaking this presidential search in a competitive environment, as many of our fellow Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities peers are also engaged in presidential searches or planning to begin a search soon. The presidential search committee is grateful that Marquette’s reputation as a strong, nationally recognized university has attracted such a qualified pool of candidates.

The search committee will continue to provide updates as the search moves forward. Please visit the presidential search website for more information.

Respectfully,

Todd Adams
