Championship glory
We were all celebrating like Men’s Basketball Head Coach Shaka Smart when the Golden Eagles secured their first Big East Tournament championship on March 11. The victory against Xavier completed the sweep for Marquette, which had previously won the Big East regular season championship outright.

The Marquette community celebrated legendary comedic alumnus Chris Farley on what would have been his 59th birthday, Feb. 15.
Familiar Commencement speaker
It’s not every day that your mom is the commencement speaker of your graduating class. But that was the case for Brandon Grandalski. His mom, Oscar winner Marlee Matlin, gave a heartfelt speech on Saturday, May 20. The campus community loved hearing their story.
Congratulations class of 2023
The Class of 2023 joined a worldwide network of more than 115,000 alumni when more than 1,800 walked across the stage during Marquette’s Commencement ceremonies.

Marquette nation came together to Ring Out Ahoya on National Marquette Day, which brought a women’s basketball win against Georgetown, a men’s basketball win against Butler and the debut of Blue & Gold Brewing’s 77 Golden Ale.
Remembering greatness
2023 marked the 20-year anniversary of Marquette’s Final Four team, sparking a return to campus for the men’s basketball team’s Jan. 18 matchup with Providence.

Letters from campus
Marquette added a new landmark to campus at the start of the fall semester in the form of large freestanding “MU” letters in the patio space outside the east entrance to the Alumni Memorial Union. Members of the campus community contributed their snapshots with the new photo op in this gallery.

Less than two years after the first shovels went into the ground at the corner of 16th Street and Wisconsin Avenue, Dr. E. J. and Margaret O’Brien Hall was a flurry of activity, as students, faculty, staff and visitors ushered in a new era.
