Dr. Michael Zimmer, associate professor of computer science in the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences and director of the Center for Data, Ethics, and Society, was named to the Milwaukee Business Journal’s inaugural list of People to Know in Technology.
Over the past 15 years, Zimmer has dedicated himself to exploring the broader social and ethical dimensions of emerging digital technologies, including issues like online privacy, data ethics and social and ethical computing.
Zimmer has been at Marquette for three years and was named the director of the Center for Data, Ethics, and Society when it was established in February. Under his direction, the center’s programs are designed to look at some of the thorniest issues facing society today and to do so through a Jesuit lens that prioritizes social justice and serving others.
Ashley Baird-Gaare, Comm ’07, was also selected to the list. Learn more about her journey from the Marquette women’s soccer team to serving as SoftwareONE’s president for North America on Marquette Today.
The Milwaukee Business Journal highlighted individuals who are on their way up and making a difference in the technology industry and/or community. The publication sought individuals who other southeastern Wisconsin executives need to know if they want to get something done with that organization or in the community.
