National First-Generation College Celebration Week occurs every year around Nov. 8 to acknowledge and elevate first-generation college students and alumni identities and contributions.
The Educational Opportunity Program, Center for Engagement and Inclusion and Career Services will host a variety of events on campus to celebrate first-generation students:
- EOP Open House
- Monday, Nov. 7 | 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on the second and third floors of Coughlin Hall
- Check out the space and what EOP has to offer
- First-Gen Alumni Panel
- Tuesday, Nov. 8 | 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Coughlin Hall 357AB
- Enjoy lunch and learn about alumni experiences as a first-gen student and how they persevered in achieving a higher education
- First Gen Connect
- Tuesday, Nov. 8 | 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in AMU Lunda Room
- Hear valuable stories from and connect with professionals who were once first-gen students
- Mixer/Social Networking, co-sponsored by Marquette’s Black Alumni Association and Hispanic Alumni Association
- Wednesday, Nov. 9 | 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Haggerty Museum of Art Atrium
- Meet first-generation students, staff, faculty and community advocates
- First-Gen Friday
- Friday, Nov. 11 | 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in AMU 137
- Visit the CLSI for a closing celebration of First-Gen Week
