“Picture This: A Research & Scholarship Photo Contest” is a new campuswide initiative led by the College of Health Sciences to showcase through visually striking photographs the depth and breadth of research and scholarship conducted at Marquette.

Building off the Research in Action theme in Marquette’s Beyond Boundaries strategic plan, the photo contest will illuminate for students, faculty, staff and the Milwaukee community the exciting research and scholarship work conducted each day on campus.

“Rarely does the campus community have the time to explore and learn about the numerous research and scholarship endeavors being conducted sometimes one floor removed from them or one building over,” says Dr. William E. Cullinan, dean of the College of the Health Sciences. “Picture This has the opportunity to become a staple at our university to showcase faculty members’ extensive hard work to the campus community. The College of Health Sciences is thrilled to lead the way on this initiative and I invite our researchers and scholars to participate.”

Faculty, staff and students conducting research and scholarship can enter photos in one of four categories: 1) clinical research, 2) creative representation of scholarship, 3) basic science and 4) research imaging.

“Marquette University has a longstanding history of impactful research and scholarship projects,” says Dr. Jeanne Hossenlopp, vice president for research and innovation. “Picture This is a fantastic way to shine a bright light on the significant, meaningful scholarly work our faculty members do alongside their teaching and service activities and present that work to the community.”

The deadline for submissions is Nov. 28, with winners announced on Dec. 6 in Marquette Today and on social media. Submissions can be entered online.
