Stephanie Boedecker, a graduate in the College of Education’s student affairs in higher education program, has been selected as the 2022 graduate student Commencement speaker. The Greendale, Wisconsin, native completed her bachelor’s degree in finance and economics from the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, but has since found a passion in the field of education. After spending years teaching English as a second language in South Korea, she returned to Milwaukee to pursue her current degree.
Boedecker completed an undergraduate assistantship in the Center for Community Service and served on the executive board of the Graduate Organization for Student Affairs in Higher Education. She was also a member of the five-person team who were awardees of the 2021 Explorer Challenge for the MKE Entrepreneur Incubation program, a start-up initiative created to provide support for student entrepreneurs and build a bridge of mentorship between Marquette students and Milwaukee (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and women-owned) businesses. She currently serves as a substitute teacher in districts across the Milwaukee County.
Marquette University will host two Commencement ceremonies — one for undergraduate students and one for Graduate School and Graduate School of Management students — on Sunday, May 22, at Summerfest’s American Family Insurance Amphitheater. The undergraduate ceremony will begin at 9 a.m.; the Graduate School and Graduate School of Management ceremony will start at 2 p.m. Both ceremonies will be livestreamed via the Commencement 2022 website.
