Join President Lovell in Fit2BeCancerFree Challenge starting April 7

April 5, 2022

President Michael R. Lovell is inviting the Marquette community to join him in the Fit2BeCancerFree Challenge, a virtual step-tracking fitness event to promote cancer prevention in the workplace. The challenge, orchestrated by the American Cancer Society, runs from April 7 through 28.

Marquette is participating in a custom virtual race, with surprise milestones that you can unlock along the way. The goal is to walk or run 70 miles over the course of the three-week challenge and for the community to raise $5,000 toward the American Cancer Society’s fight against cancer. Donations will go toward sarcoma research.

How to sign up

Steps are tracked through the MoveSpring app, which can be accessed by creating an account on app.movespring.com or by downloading the iOS or Android app.

  1. Click this join link. You’ll be navigated to the MoveSpring website or prompted to download the mobile app if you click the link from your mobile phone. It is ideal to download the app on your phone so you can connect your tracking device at the same time.
  2. Enter the following ORG code if/when prompted: marquette (not case sensitive), and then confirm Marquette University as the organization.
  3. Follow the steps to create your MoveSpring account and connect a device.

Once your account is created, you’ll automatically be added to the challenge. Then visit the Marquette gift challenge page, where you will have the opportunity to create your own gift challenge webpage to help us reach our goal.

In addition to tracking steps in the MoveSpring app, employees and spouses can also track steps in the Marquette My Wellness Portal to count toward their annual wellness incentives. Tracking devices should log steps in both applications simultaneously.  Steps can also be tracked manually in one or both systems for those without connected devices.
