The Office of the Provost has reinstated the Tenure Buyout Policy, which is now posted with forms and Q&A on the Office of the Provost website.
For this first year of the policy, here are some important points to note:
- The deadline for submitting an Inquiry – the first step in the process to surrender tenure – is Jan. 26, 2022. The deadline for submitting an Application for Benefits for Surrender of Tenure is Feb. 1, 2022.
- If you are turning 68 during AY2021-22, you can take advantage of the policy as if you were 67 during the entire AY2021-22.
The Tenure Buyout Policy Review Task Force are appreciated for their research and recommendations as well as leaders in Faculty Affairs, Office of General Counsel, ITS and Human Resources for their assistance. The University Academic Senate also provided important feedback.
