The Commons honored with Excellence in Design Award by American Institute of Architects

The Commons, Marquette’s newest residence hall, received the “Excellence in Design” award from AIA Maryland, a state component of The American Institute of Architects.

The award recognizes Marquette University and Design Collective, Inc., the architecture group with which the university worked to design The Commons, for their combined “brilliant strategy to bring the outside in, and vertically integrate the various types of activity that happen within and around the space.”

This is not The Commons’ first design award. In 2019, the residence hall received various design and construction honors from The Daily Reporter, The Milwaukee Business Journal, In Business Magazine and the American Society of Interior Designers – Wisconsin. Later that same year, The Commons received the “General Contractor Award for New Construction” at the BUILD Wisconsin Awards Banquet.
