Virtual Commencement Mass is Aug. 29; watch the Class of 2020 video and participate in other virtual celebrations happening this week

August 27, 2020

The Class of 2020 is invited to join Rev. James Voiss, S.J., vice president for mission and ministry, for a virtual Mass at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29. The Mass will be livestreamed and archived on the Mission at Marquette Facebook page.

Additionally, the Class of 2020 is invited to participate in the following virtual celebrations:

  • A special Class of 2020 video
Marquette has produced “Honoring the Class of 2020,” a video featuring traditional Commencement messages from President Michael Lovell, Provost Kimo Ah Yun, undergraduate student speaker Mumal Tunio, H Sci ’20, and graduate student speaker Peter Borg, Grad ’20.For those of you still planning to celebrate on Aug. 30, we encourage you to use this video during your make-shift graduation ceremonies! In addition, during the video President Lovell presents the Class of 2020 with the traditional conferral of degrees, so we invite you to join in to mark your occasion with those very special words: “Now, by the power invested in me by the State of Wisconsin and the Trustees of Marquette University…”
  • Post a graduation photo to the online collage
Starting Friday, Aug. 28, include #MUGRAD2020 in a publicly facing post to Instagram or Twitter in your Marquette or academic regalia to see your photo join the hundreds of others in our online mosaic celebrating the Class of 2020. You will be able to view the mosaic online when it goes live on Aug. 28.
  • Order a commemorative class t-shirt.
The commemorative t-shirt features the names of all the 2020 graduates. To view the t-shirt and place your order, visit the virtual store.

Lastly, watch for a commemorative Class of 2020 Commencement Program to arrive in your mailbox in the coming weeks, and save the date for a special Class of 2020 1st Reunion next year: Friday, June 4, to Sunday, June 6, 2021. As part of the university’s Alumni Reunion Weekend, there will be a special reunion event for the Class of 2020 on Saturday evening where you can reunite and celebrate with classmates. Formal invitations will be sent as details are finalized.

Visit the Class of 2020 website for more details and up-to-date information.
