Project Homeless Connect is an annual event organized by the United Way that brings resources and services together under one roof to best serve those experiencing homelessness.
This year Marquette is expecting over 500 guests at the one-day event on Thursday, Oct. 16, in the Alumni Memorial Union.
Volunteers are critical to creating a positive experience and connecting guests with resources and services provided throughout the AMU. Possible volunteer engagement will include:
- Interacting one-on-one with guests throughout the day
- Serving as a way finder, guiding guests to needed services and resources throughout the AMU
- Helping with operations such as check-in, lunch distribution and resource stations
All volunteers are required to register in advance. No walk-in registrations will be permitted. All volunteers will be provided with a Project Homeless Connect shirt during check-in. Additionally, a bag lunch will be provided for volunteers.
Student registration: Register in advance on the United Way website. For questions about the student volunteer experience, contact Vevette Hill-Nwagbaraocha, assistant director of Campus Ministry.
Staff/faculty registration: Register in advance with the Faber Center or on the United Way website. For questions about the staff/faculty volunteer experience, contact Michael Dante, director for the Faber Center for Ignatian Spirituality.
Please direct any additional questions about Project Homeless Connect to Kelsey Otero, senior director of community engagement.
