Curious about philosophy or cognitive science? The Department of Philosophy and the Cognitive Science Program will host an open house on Monday, Oct. 27, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Marquette Hall Commons (Room 111).
The event welcomes all students interested in philosophy and cognitive science courses, not just those who major in these fields. Attendees will get previews of spring 2026 offerings, including PHIL 1001–102: Foundations of Philosophy (the bilingual section), PHIL 2310: Theories of Ethics (an Ethics Bowl course), and PHIL 1000: Logic, a course on critical reasoning. Faculty will also share details about upcoming spring seminars, the new Philosophy Disciplinary Honors Program, and one-credit Honors courses.
Several faculty members will be available to answer questions throughout the event, including Dr. Corinne Bloch-Mullins, chair of the Philosophy Department (12:30 p.m.–2 p.m.); Dr. Abram Capone, program coordinator for Cognitive Science (12:30 p.m.–2:30 p.m.); Dr. Yoon Choi, current director of undergraduate studies for Philosophy and director of the Philosophy Disciplinary Honors Program (1 p.m. –2:30 p.m.); and Dr. Stephanie Rivera Berruz, incoming director of undergraduate studies for Philosophy and director of the Philosophy Disciplinary Honors Program (12:30 p.m.–2 p.m.).
