The Africana Studies program and the Department of English will present “Networked Poetics: The digital turn in South African poetry,” on Friday, April 11, at 4 p.m. in the Raynor Memorial Libraries Beaumier Suites.
Dr. Susanna L. Sacks is an assistant professor of English at Howard University, where she teaches courses in comparative literature, focusing on contemporary poetry and Afro-diasporic literatures. Her research, which has received awards and honors from the African Literature Association and the African Studies Association, focuses on contemporary African poetry, with emphases on performance, audience formation and response, new media, and the politics of speech, including language policy and political rhetoric. Her first book, “Networked Poetics: African Poetry’s Digital Turn” is published by the University of Massachusetts Press in 2024.
