The Irish Studies program will present a seminar with campaigner, journalist and peace activist Emma De Souza on Friday, March 6, at 1 p.m. in Raynor Library Beaumier Suite B.
De Souza changed UK law in a landmark human rights case relating to the Good Friday Agreement. She is the founder and co-facilitator of the deliberative democracy platform Northern Ireland’s Civic Initiative, as well as the director of the Northern Ireland Emerging Leaders Platform at the National Committee on American Foreign Policy. She also works as a global advisor on peace processes and civic initiatives. She is the former leadership coordinator of the National Women’s Council of Ireland, through which she established the first All-Island Women’s Forum to bring women together to work collectively to address issues of common concern.
