Dr. Ryan Sun, assistant professor of biostatistics at University of Texas’ MD Anderson Cancer Center, will present the Mathematical and Statistical Sciences colloquium on Friday, April 11, at 1 p.m. in Cudahy Hall 401.
Sun’s talk, “Interpretable Large-Scale Testing of Composite Null Hypotheses for Translational Genetics Studies,” introduces a new statistical method to help genetic researchers more accurately identify genetic links to diseases like lung cancer. It focuses on cases where a result must appear consistently across multiple studies to be considered valid.
Post-colloquium refreshments will be served after 2 p.m. in Cudahy Hall 342. For more information on MSSC seminars, please visit their website or contact Dr. Naveen Bansal.
