The Marquette University Chinese Program will host “Golden Eras of Medieval China: Tang vs. Song,” presented by Dr. Daniel Meissner on Wednesday, April 9, at 11 a.m. in Lalumiere Hall 296.
Meissner is a retired historian of Modern China at Marquette, specializing in late Qing history and culture and Sino-American diplomatic relations. At Marquette and as a Fulbright Scholar in China, he has taught a range of graduate and undergraduate courses that focus on the role of special interest groups in the interpretation of domestic policies and international relations. His research publications examine the role of individual entrepreneurs, officials and diplomats in the modernization of late imperial China.
