The students of the Department of Counselor Education and Counseling Psychology will host the 24th annual Diversity Gala to help support the CECP Graduate Student Organization’s Diversity Scholarship on Saturday, May 3, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the AMU Monaghan Ballrooms.

The event will feature a keynote address by Sara Abdulrasool, a licensed professional counselor. Abdulrasool, a Middle Eastern native of Iraq, immigrated to the U.S. as a refugee in her teens. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from Temple University and an Master of Science in clinical mental health counseling from Marquette.

Fluent in English, Arabic and French, she works as a behavioral therapist at Sebastian Family Psychology Practice LLC, supporting underserved communities. Abdulrasool joined Executive Function Impairment Behavioral Health in 2020 as an EAP clinician, providing crisis support and referrals, later transitioning to account management in 2022, where she delivers organizational support and critical incident response. Passionate about wellness, she founded Women Walking into Wellness on Instagram, promoting mental and physical well-being.
