
Marquette University mourns the loss of Dr. William “Bill” Hunter, who held multiple roles in the College of Business Administration over his 30 years at the university. He died on Sunday, Sept. 20, at 80 years old.
Hunter, who earned his undergraduate and master’s degrees at Marquette, served the university as professor of economics, professor of finance, chair of the Department of Economics and associate dean of the College of Business Administration. He also taught in the MBA and Executive MBA programs.
Prior to his career in academia, Hunter was a sergeant for the 101st Airborne Division in the Vietnam War. He was awarded a bronze star for his service.

Visitation will be held at at St. Mary’s Visitation Catholic Parish in Elm Grove on Friday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at noon. A private burial will follow. All are welcome to celebrate Bill and his late wife Sue’s lives at Westmoor Country Club in Brookfield at 1:30 p.m.
