Dr. André M. Carrington, associate professor of English at the University of California, Riverside, will give a talk based on his book “Audiofuturism: Science Fiction Radio Drama and the Black Fantastic Imagination,” on Friday, Oct. 16, from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in AMU 313.
“Audiofuturism: Science Fiction Radio Drama and the Black Fantastic Imagination” chronicles the largely understudied history of audio science fiction made for Black creators for Black audiences. In particular, the talk will explore the complex dynamics of identification and disidentification that govern the relationship between race, genre and fandom.
Registration at Eventbrite is preferred but not required.
