The Division of Belonging and Student Affairs will host the Symposium on Belonging, Indigenous Ways of Belonging: Honoring History, Shaping Our Future on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in the AMU Monaghan Ballrooms.
This year’s symposium will explore how Indigenous perspectives on belonging connect with Marquette’s history, mission and current initiatives. Dr. Benny Reith, an Indigenous educator and founder of Belonging University, will deliver the keynote and introduce his 5R Framework for Belonging.
Following the keynote, attendees can choose a breakout session on the history of Native affairs at Marquette or on Indigenous ways of building community. The morning will conclude with lunch and a final reflection.
Limited parking is available for $10 in the 16th Street parking structure at 749 N.16th St. and the Wells Street structure located at 1240 W. Wells St. Administrators, faculty, staff, students, alumni and other campus stakeholders are invited to attend. Register online by Oct. 15.
