New trustee elected to Marquette board

Marquette University’s Board of Trustees at its December 2025 meeting elected Aparna Bawa, chief operating officer at Zoom, as its newest member.

Marquette trustees serve for three-year terms and may be re-elected to serve for a maximum of 12 years; they are volunteers and are not compensated for their service.

Bawa, a 1999 graduate of Marquette’s College of Business Administration, has served as Zoom’s chief operating officer since May 2020. With over a decade of experience building operations and infrastructure for growing technology companies, she oversees the company’s People Experience, Government Relations, Security, Privacy, Compliance, and Trust and Safety teams.

She served as senior vice president and general counsel for Magento Commerce — acquired by Adobe in 2018 — and as vice president and general counsel for Nimble Storage, where she helped lead the company through its initial public offering in 2013 and its sale to Hewlett Packard Enterprise in 2017. Earlier in her career, she led legal and corporate development functions for Inphi Corp.

Bawa also spent several years in investment banking with Lehman Brothers and Deutsche Bank, executing multiple IPO and M&A transactions for technology clients. She began her career as a corporate and securities attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

She currently serves on the board of Palo Alto Networks and holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
