The Haggerty Museum of Art will host a discussion and workshop about art and the impact of incarceration on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event will feature artist Maria Gaspar; Dr. Robert S. Smith, director of the Center for Urban Research Teaching & Outreach; and members of the CURTO Education Preparedness Program staff.
This public program spotlights Gaspar’s “Disappearance Jail” project, currently on view at the Haggerty Museum, and invites participation and conversation about the 113 prisons, jails and juvenile and immigrant detention facilities throughout the state of Wisconsin.
