President Michael R. Lovell posthumously honored with BID #21 Legacy Award

Amy and Anna Lovell receive the Legacy Award at the 2024 State of Downtown: For the Record meeting.

Late Marquette President Michael R. Lovell posthumously received the Legacy Award from the Milwaukee Downtown Business Improvement District #21 on Tuesday, Oct. 1, for his collaborations with business and community leaders in the communities surrounding Marquette’s campus.

The award was presented at the 2024 State of Downtown: For the Record meeting, which recognized individuals, corporations and organizations that have gone above and beyond in their belief and investment in downtown Milwaukee.

During his tenure as president of Marquette University, Dr. Lovell helped create the Near West Side Partners and played a key role in launching several other important initiatives in the city, including the Midwest Energy Research Consortium, The Commons, Scale-Up Milwaukee, The Water Council and the Northwestern Mutual Data Science Institute. He and his wife Amy Lovell co-founded Scaling Wellness in Milwaukee, which addresses the impacts of generational trauma.

Amy and their daughter Anna Lovell were in attendance to receive the award.
