The campus community is invited to join a training facilitated by Counseling Center staff to learn the warning signs for suicide risk and discuss helping skills and ways to support someone in distress. The training, held in recognition of Suicide Prevention Month, will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 25, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in AMU 163.
This event is open to all in the Marquette community.
It is important to note that this is not intended to be a form of counseling or treatment, and it won’t train participants to do therapy with someone who is suicidal. This program is designed to offer hope through positive action and to prepare you to react effectively when someone in your life is struggling, in distress or seems like they might be suicidal.
