Former audit partner at Grant Thornton joins college as executive-in-residence

Gregg Rusk brings expertise from 35-year career to accounting department

The College of Business Administration has added Gregg Rusk as its latest executive-in-residence in accounting.

Rusk spent 35 years working at public accounting firm Grant Thornton, with 23 of them as a partner.  During that time, Rusk advised more than 50 public companies and their boards on audit, internal controls and accounting  issues. He assisted clients with initial public offerings that raised over $2.5 billion, public and private debt offerings totaling $10 billion, along with over 75 mergers and acquisitions. He worked at GT’s Chicago, London and Miami offices.  He specialized in international companies and traveled and worked in 50+ countries across six continents.

Rusk currently holds multiple board positions, including the audit committee of  the American Association of Nurse Anesthesiology and the National Board of The Gift of Adoption Fund. He is the treasurer for the Park Ridge Public Library in Park Ridge, Illinois.  He is involved in St. Paul of the Cross Church as an usher, member of the finance committee, and a Pre-Cana facilitator.

He graduated Marquette with a Bachelor of Science in accounting in 1984 and received an MBA from Northern Illinois University in 1989. He has three children and lives in Park Ridge with Heather, his wife of 34 years.

“Gregg has a proven track record of excellence, leadership and ethical practice,” says Department of Accounting Chair Dr. Kevin Rich. “He will be a great asset to our college as we train the next generation of accountants. Our students will benefit immensely from his expertise.”

“The College of Business Administration gave me the knowledge to succeed and the principles for decisive leadership; both of those things have served me well throughout my career,” Rusk says. “Coming back to my alma mater is a full circle moment. I’m excited to contribute to this college’s mission of conducting business with purpose.”
