All members of the Marquette University community are invited to the annual May Crowning and Mass on Saturday, May 4, at 9:45 a.m. in the Marian Grotto behind the St. Joan of Arc Chapel.
Celebrate the rite for Crowning an image of the Blessed Virgin Mary with scripture, song and community. This will be followed immediately by the normal 10 a.m. Mass in the St. Joan of Arc Chapel.
Crowning an image of the Blessed Virgin is an ancient devotion of the Church, recognizing Mary as “the perfect follower of Christ,” who, by accompanying Him throughout His entire life, even to the cross itself, “won ‘the crown of glory’ that is promised to those who follow Christ.” (cf. Order of Crowning, n. 5).
The community celebrates this devotion as a way of giving thanks to God for the many graces we have received this year in following Him with the Blessed Virgin and relying upon her intercession.
All are invited to join for this celebration.
