Marquette’s EagleExpress rideshare service is on track to complete its 100,000th safe ride later this week, reaching the milestone within the first ten months of operation. To celebrate, EagleExpress will be conducting giveaways throughout the week with riders.
The 100,000th rider will additionally receive a gift package including a $25 VISA gift card, an MUPD Blue T-shirt, a Marquette scarf and an EagleExpress knit hat. The lucky rider will be notified the day following the milestone.
Blue, MUPD’s community outreach dog, will be a guest rider in one of the vans on Thursday, Nov. 30.
EagleExpress, powered by Via, provides free shared rides to the Marquette community as an alternative to walking alone in the evenings. A student-run service, EagleExpress vans run 5 p.m. to 3 a.m. daily and provide door-to-door service from locations starting and ending on campus. Anyone with a valid Marquette email address can download the free EagleExpress app on the App Store and Google Play and set up a profile to use the service.
EagleExpress, which launched in January 2023, is an outcome of the President’s Task Force on Community Safety.
